New Year’s Day 2014

A good start to the New Year.

After a scenic drive along a winding road into the mountains we arrived at our destination venta Collao near to the village of Benimurell.

The sun blazed down on us as we drank hot mulled wine supplied by Alex and Brian before we all trotted off for a dog walk along a mountain track which started beside the restaurant.

The walk had stunning views across the Mediterranean towards Ibiza which could be seen in the distance on such a beautifully clear New Year’s day.

With the dogs fed and watered they settled down in the car with the windows left open for ventilation while we had our meal inside restaurant Collao. A huge log burner kept us all nice and warm as we tucked into rustic bread and alioli and side dishes of olives.

After over indulgence during the Christmas festivities my thoughts momenterily focused on some New year resolutions. So a salad starter followed by a last hurrah humungous steak dinner and to finish off a nice tarta de queso for my deliciosos postres.

Have a Happy New Year for 2014 everyone.
